Our process

The selects, not the shoot.

A day on set produces thousands of frames and maybe eighty keepers. Finding those eighty is skilled work, and it is the least enjoyable part of most photographers’ week.

1 · Technical reject

Out of focus, motion blurred, badly exposed, blinked and mistimed frames are removed first at 100% zoom, not from thumbnails where soft focus is invisible.

2 · Duplicate grouping

Near-identical frames are grouped and the strongest one kept, judged on expression, pose, garment fall and eye contact rather than on file order.

3 · Coverage check

We confirm every product, angle, colourway or shot-list item has at least one usable frame, and flag anything missing while a re-shoot is still cheap.

4 · Rated delivery

Selects are returned as star ratings, colour labels or separate folders in Lightroom, Capture One or Bridge, so your team opens the catalogue and starts working immediately.

Who uses it

Anyone shooting more than they can review.

Culling is the cheapest step in the pipeline and the one that saves the most money downstream, because you never pay to retouch a frame you were never going to use.

Culling is normally the first step before colour correction and full product photo editing. Studios and agencies often run it white-label under their own brand — see white-label retouching and product studios.

FAQ

Photo Culling Service — questions

How do you decide which photos to keep?

We cull to your criteria — sharpness, expression, duplicates and blinks — and can follow a custom rule set.

What volumes can you handle?

From hundreds to tens of thousands of frames with fast, consistent turnaround.

Can culling connect to your retouching?

Yes — we hand selected images straight into our retouching workflow.

Is there a trial?

Yes — send a sample set and we'll cull it free.

How do you decide which frames to keep?

We cull against your brief. Send a shot list, a reference set or simply tell us what you are shooting for, and we apply your criteria rather than our taste. For repeat clients we build a written spec so the standard never drifts.

What software do you deliver in?

Lightroom, Capture One or Adobe Bridge, returned as star ratings, colour labels or separate folders. Tell us which your team uses and the catalogue arrives ready to open.

How fast is culling?

Most shoots come back within 24 hours. Very large event or catalogue sets are scheduled at an agreed daily volume, and rush turnaround is available.

Do I lose the rejected frames?

No. Nothing is deleted. Rejects are marked or moved to a separate folder so you keep the full take and can always go back to a frame we did not select.
