Every image is retouched by hand, frame by frame, by a named retoucher. Your files are never pushed through generative AI tools and are never used as training data for any model. We will sign your own data processing agreement saying so — not ours, yours.
| Commitment | What it means in practice |
|---|---|
| No generative processing | Your files are not run through generative fill, generative expand, or any text-to-image or image-to-image synthesis. Work is done frame by frame by a retoucher who is named on your account. |
| No training use | Your images are never used as training data for any model, ours or anyone else's, during the engagement or after it. |
| Your DPA, signed | You remain the data controller and we act as your processor. Send your agreement and we sign it, with Standard Contractual Clauses and a UK Addendum where the transfer requires them. Production is in Bangladesh and we say so in writing rather than leaving you to find out. |
All three extend to overflow. When volume moves to a contracted partner studio, the same terms apply, every image still passes our own in-house QC before delivery, and you are told before your work moves. A commitment that stops at the edge of the in-house floor is not a commitment.
A supplier who blurs these two is worth a second question, and a supplier who claims to use no machine learning at all is either confused or not telling you the truth.
| What it does | Contractual status | |
|---|---|---|
| Machine-learning tools subject selection, edge detection, noise reduction | Analyses the pixels already in your file to speed up a selection a retoucher would otherwise draw | Describes what was photographed. No new content. |
| Generative AI generative fill and expand, text-to-image, image-to-image | Creates pixels that were never photographed | Produces content that was not in the licensed original. This is what we do not do to your files. |
We would rather you ran these than took our word for it — and if a competitor passes all four, that is a good supplier and you should say yes to them.
A growing number of brands generate their own on-model imagery and need the result brought to catalogue standard — fabric texture, seams, logos, hands, edges and colour matched to the real product. We do that work by hand, on files the client generated themselves.
That is the opposite of putting your photography through a generative tool, and we keep the two clearly apart rather than letting the word "AI" do the blurring. How the hand-correction pass works.
Ask any supplier for three things in writing: that your files are never processed through generative AI tools, that they are never used as training data for any model, and that they will sign your data processing agreement as processor, with Standard Contractual Clauses where the transfer requires them. We commit to all three, and to the same terms at any partner studio used for overflow.
Four contractual reasons: licensed imagery with restrictions on derivative works, model and talent releases that cover photography but not synthesis, design-sensitive products where an invented detail misrepresents the item, and stock or editorial pipelines with their own rules — Getty's contributor requirements, for example, exclude generative AI tools.
No. Subject selection and edge detection analyse pixels that are already in your file. Generative fill and text-to-image create pixels that were never photographed. Only the second produces content that was not in the licensed original, and only the second is what we rule out.
Put it in the contract, ask whether it extends to overflow and partner studios, ask for layered working files on a sample job, and ask who the sub-processors are. Run all four on us.
Not on client images. We do offer hand correction of images the client has generated themselves, which is the opposite arrangement and is kept separate.
Bangladesh, stated openly. Bangladesh is not on the UK or EU adequacy list, so transfers need Standard Contractual Clauses and, for UK data, the International Data Transfer Addendum. We sign both. The detail is here.
We sign first, then work. If your legal team wants the sub-processor list, the transfer mechanism or the no-AI clause in advance, ask and you will have them the same working day.
