Who wrote this. Retouch Atelier publishes this page and puts itself first. Every other studio’s figures are taken from that studio’s own website and linked, and each one gets a section on where it beats us. If that sounds like a list you can still use, read on.
If you run more than a few hundred garments a month and need the whole season to match, start with Retouch Atelier. If you want a self-serve platform with an API, start with Pixelz. If you run a small order on a tight budget, Clipping Expert Asia or Color Clipping will cost you less.
Most “best ghost mannequin service” lists are written by one of the studios on them, and most do not say so. This one does. The useful part is not the order; it is knowing which of the four is built for the job you actually have.
Price per image is the number everyone leads with and the one that matters least once you are past a few hundred garments. What costs money at volume is drift: the neck joints on batch twenty not matching batch one, whites that move between shifts, a sheer fabric that someone smoothed into plastic. So we looked at four things:
| Studio | Method | Published price | Turnaround | Free test | Built for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Retouch Atelier | By hand, no generative AI | $1–$3; complex $3–$5 | 24–48h | 5 images, back in 6h | 500+ garments a month |
| Pixelz | AI plus human editors | Plan-based (their pricing) | Under 3h available | Not stated on the service page | Studios that want a platform and API |
| Clipping Expert Asia | Manual (their description) | $0.79 simple, $1.49 complex | 24h simple, 24–48h complex; 6h rush | 2–3 garments | Small to mid-size brands |
| Color Clipping | Manual, paths and layer masks | From $0.49 | 48h; 6–12h rush | 1 image | Single orders, marketplace sellers |
We built the studio around one problem: a season of garments where every neck joint, shadow and white has to match. 58 salaried retouchers and six QC managers work three shifts, with capacity above 40,000 images a month, and no image is signed off by the person who edited it.
A recent shirt programme ran 1,745 SKUs in about a week. Fabric texture stayed in — we do not smooth a knit flat to finish faster, because the buyer zooms and the knit is what they are paying for.
Every frame is retouched by hand. Your files do not go through a generative tool, they are never used to train a model, and we will put both in writing next to the NDA and your DPA.
Choose us if you shoot hundreds of garments a week and the category grid has to look like one shoot. Skip us if you run under about 500 images a month — our onboarding is not worth your time at that size — or if you want to upload into software yourself rather than work with a team.
Pixelz has done ghost mannequin for over a decade and runs it through its own platform: FTP upload with filename rules for combining shots, API integration with studio software, and image rejection and markup inside the tool. It combines AI with human editors and offers delivery in under three hours.
Choose Pixelz if your studio wants software as much as retouching, and you are happy for AI to do part of the work. Skip it if you need every step done by hand and stated that way in writing.
Publishes simple ghost mannequin at $0.79 and complex at $1.49 per image, 24-hour turnaround on simple garments, 6- and 12-hour rush options, and a free trial on two or three garments with no card. They describe the work as fully manual.
Choose them if you run up to a few hundred SKUs a month and price is the deciding number. Ask first how they keep a 5,000-image season consistent across shifts, if that is where you are heading.
Starts at $0.49 per image, 48-hour standard delivery with a 6–12 hour rush, and edits your first image free. Volume discounts run to 7.5% at 500 or more images in a single order, and every order gets a project manager and an order-tracking portal.
Choose them if you are a marketplace seller placing one order at a time. Check the discount curve if you will run thousands a month; the tiers stop early.
On a 2,000-garment season, the difference between $0.79 and $2 is real money. So is the cost of sending 300 images back because the necklines drifted after batch eight, or re-shooting because the colour on screen did not match the garment that arrived. Neither shows up in a per-image rate.
The only fair way to compare is to send the same five hard garments to two studios on the same day and look at the results side by side at 200%. Every studio on this page offers some form of free test. Use it.

For 500 or more garments a month where the whole season has to match, Retouch Atelier is built for that: 58 in-house retouchers, six QC managers across three shifts, capacity above 40,000 images a month, and every image retouched by hand. If you want a self-serve platform and API instead, Pixelz is the usual choice.
Published starting prices on this page run from $0.49 (Color Clipping) and $0.79 (Clipping Expert Asia) to $1–$3 at Retouch Atelier, with complex garments higher everywhere. Pixelz prices by subscription plan. At volume, consistency across batches usually costs more than the difference in rate.
For plain tees and secondary images it can be. Sheer fabric, layered garments and interior labels are where it still fails, and some buyers need to be able to say no generative model touched the image. Ask any vendor which steps are done by a model.
Yes. Retouch Atelier retouches five of your images free and returns them in six hours, with no card and no call first. The other studios here offer free trials of one to three images.

Your hardest five — sheer, layered, the one with the awkward collar. Back in six hours. Judge the neck joints at 200%.
